Looting is Not Protest

Since when is it okay to protest a crime by turning to crime oneself?

LOOTING IS NOT PROTEST!!!

In the wake of Ferguson and other similar events, protesters have taken to the streets. They hold up signs, chant phrases, and even lie down as though dead.

THIS IS PROTEST!!!

Using Ferguson and other similar events as an excuse to wreck cars, loots stores, and set fires is nothing more that — an excuse. There is nothing about raiding a cell phone store that speaks protest about police action or justice. There is nothing about pulling people from their cars and beating them up that says, “We need to stop excusing violence.”

The media needs to cease validating these actions as a form of protest. People need to see that stealing and vandalism are not excusable just because someone is angry.

Protest is good. Crime is not.
