My Compassion Children

Millions of children die each year from hunger and treatable diseases. Many more grow up without education, religion, and hope for a future. But Compassion International is trying to change that. Rated in the top 1% of all charities, Compassion provides children with education, optional religious counseling, and medical services. Their sponsorship programs are one-on-one, meaning that there is only one sponsor per child. Sponsors choose their child, and then provide either $38 or $45 a month (that’s a max of $1.50 a day — less than a bottle of soda!) towards that child’s growth until the child turns 18. (Sponsorship can be terminated before then if the sponsor so chooses.) In return, the sponsor can send and will receive letters from this child, making that sponsor one of the most important influences in the child’s life.

Another program run by Compassion is for at-risk mothers and babies, wherein a sponsor, for a mere $20 a month (that’s only $0.67 a day!) is able to provide these mothers with pre-natal care, nutrition education, ongoing healthcare, infant survival training, and spiritual support. You can make a difference!
